Research overview

I conduct empirical, qualitative research on accounting and financial management. My theoretical and empirical interests are broad, but the common theme in all my research is that accounting and finance has to be understood as social practices. The use(s) of numbers and financial calculations are influenced by the social and organizational setting of financial users (and vice versa).

My current main project concerns the practices of active fund managers and how this group uses information to make investment decisions and participate in corporate governance. My particular interest is on contrarian decision-making and how fund managers decide to take a 'bet' against the current trends in the market.

My research has been published in well-renowned international journals, including:

  • Accounting, Organizations and Society
  • European Accounting Review, Accounting
  • Auditing & Accountability Journal
  • Critical Perspectives on Accounting
  • Financial Accountability & Management
